Kindergarten Registration is Now Open

Welcome to Kindergarten in Limestone. Limestone welcomes all students, promoting and encouraging families to attend their area school, but we understand that it is best interest of some students to attend an out-of-boundary school and that selecting the right educational setting for your new student is a significant decision.

Selecting an out-of-boundary school for your new student is a decision influenced by many factors. The school may be closer to a workplace or near a childcare provider that might be more convenient for drop-off and pick-up routines. In accordance with board policy, by default, students will be enrolled in the school designated within their boundary area, based on their home address.

We aim to accommodate family preferences, but please note that out-of-boundary placements are not guaranteed, and families will be responsible for organizing transportation to and from out-of-boundary schools.

Students may be permitted to attend any school within the board when there is available student space, upon submission and approval of the proper application. The board will not be held responsible for the provision of any transportation for students outside of their regular school boundary area. This applies to both students within Limestone’s geographic boundaries (out-of-boundary), and students who live outside of those boundaries (out-of-district).

We are committed to supporting you every step of the way. Welcome to 2026!

We hope that you all enjoyed a joyful holiday filled with time spent celebrating alongside family and friends. It was a bit of a soft landing post holiday start within the LDSB catchment area with 3 snow days (2 for Kingston schools) at the beginning of last week. Thursday was a very happy day as Southview is not truly a school until the young people are in the building. All of the staff were remarking that it felt really good to finally see our students after more than two weeks away, and to begin the process of getting back into a routine.

We are thrilled to announce that our new Vice Principal, Ms. Allison Gladu, started at Southview on January 5, 2026. She is fitting into our community beautifully and has spoken openly about how welcoming the school has been and about the positive vibe in the hallways and classrooms. Welcome to Southview, Ms. Gladu! You are going to love it here. Please feel free to stop into the main office when you are here, to introduce yourself to Allison!

Our athletics program is in full swing after the break with two sports calling for athletes wanting to participate on our highly competitive teams. The tryout processes for both basketball and floor hockey are just getting started and coaches are planning to attend both exhibition games and tournaments through the month of February. Go Lynx!

An exciting dramatic opportunity is happening at Southview PS in the early Spring! Ms. Zwiers is producing and directing the play "Wild Robot" to be presented on April 10th, 2026. All students from Grades 3-8 were offered the opportunity to participate and those who chose to showcase their acting talents will be practising twice per week to get ready for their big day. Thank you to Ms. Zwiers and her team of volunteers, for undertaking this fantastic opportunity on behalf of our students! We are looking forward to this performance!

All of our educators are beginning to prepare report cards for distribution on February 13th, 2026. Message from the Director - December 17, 2025

Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you well as we approach the end of the last school week of 2025 and the upcoming holiday season. I wanted to share a few updates with you before we head into the Winter Break:

EQAO Results

The Ministry of Education recently released the 2024-2025 Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) results, and we are proud to share that Limestone achieved its strongest performance in four years, with gains across every testing category.

Limestone’s results align with provincial outcomes in many areas and show notable improvements in others, including among specific student groups. In fact, Limestone’s performance is at or above the provincial average in nearly all measures.

These accomplishments reflect the collective efforts of Limestone’s educators, Educational Assistants, program teams, and school leaders—along with the commitment and support of students and families across the district. I am deeply proud of the dedication shown by Limestone staff, students, and families in achieving these results.

More information on EQAO results is available on Limestone’s website, including a letter to families from Minister of Education, Paul Calandra.

Grade 8 Information Nights

The Limestone District School Board is hosting Grade 8 Parent Information Nights at secondary schools across the region for families and students. These events include a special presentation about the school, its programs, and the registration process.

Information nights are also a great opportunity to learn about the wide variety of programs available for secondary students in Limestone—including expanded opportunities, French immersion, the International Baccalaureate program, and more. We are very proud of the range and choice of different secondary programs we provide to the communities we serve.

Upcoming information night dates can be found on Limestone’s website.

Inclement Weather Reminder/Tri-Board Transportation Reminder

We are now well into the inclement weather season and have already experienced some transportation cancellation days. Please feel free to connect with the school at any time for more information!

Our Southview PS athletes will be in action over the next week as the Volleyball season is in full swing! Our Senior Boys are attending a tournament next Tuesday at Kingston Secondary School while our Senior Girls travel to La Salle Secondary School for a competition next Wednesday. This year, we will be supporting Napanee Morning Star Mission and are asking students to bring in a non-perishable food item to donate to this worthy organization. On December 12th, all students will be given a Jingle Bell to take with them as we participate in a 1 km walk around the perimeter of the school. We might even encourage some carolling as we walk! The class that collects the most items will win a pizza party for their whole group! A list of some priority items is provided in the graphic below! The Family Night held on Wednesday November 26, 2025 was extremely well attended with lots of excited parents and students choosing books to read at home. We are earning points (based on sales) which have been allocated to classes and departments across the school and are being used to purchase class and subject related reading materials for our students! A huge shout out to Susanne Sheffield who organized the event on behalf of Southview PS. Thank you so much, Susanne, and all of the family volunteers who assisted to make the fair so successful!

Edge Imaging will be attending Southview PS on Friday December 5th, 2025 to take photo re-takes for those students who missed out on November 7th or for those who would like a re-do!
