Growing, Learning and Achieving Together
THE VIEW THIS WEEK AT SOUTHVIEW PS
Hello Lynx Families!
We have reached the Thanksgiving Day long weekend which feels like a benchmark moment in the school year. The first six weeks of 2025-2026 are complete, and we have accomplihed so much. It certainly feels as if everyone needs a break to catch their breath before engaging in the next phase of Term One.
Well done to our Soccer Teams that competed so well in the LESSA Soccer Tournaments on September 23rd & 24th, 2026 at John Machin Fields in Kingston. Our Senior Girl’s Team fought all the way to the finals, but lost in a hard fought match during their final game. The Sr. Boys competed in terrific form winning every game that they played. Our Junior Boy’s and Girl’s Teams competed on Thursday September 24 and both teams went undefeated during the entire day of competition.! Congratulations to all athletes and coaches on representing Southview with pride and distinction!
Our Intermediate Baseball Teams will be competing in the Acadie Interschool competition on Friday October 9th, 2026. Our athletes have been preparing for this tournament with Mr. Babcock and Mr. Morrow for a few weeks and the students are very excited about the big day! Good luck to all member so the team and their coaches. Best of luck to our Cross Country Team and coaches who are representing Southview PS next week at the LESAA Race on October 14, 2026. Go Lynx! Qualifying members from this competition will earn the opertunity to compete at the District Finals on Tuesday October 20th, 2026.
On Thursday October 15, 2026, Southview PS will be distributing Indvidual Education Plans to many of our students' families for review and feedback. These are considered working documents that may be revised throughout October and November and sent back out to some families as finished documents. This will happen over the course of the next few weeks. We are looking for families to feedback on the plans developed for our students so that parent and guardian voices can be included! Please feel free to connect with your child's classroom teacher if you have any questions or suggstions regarding these important documents.
We have had many important visitors in the school over the past few weeks including MADD Canada who visited the school on Monday September 21st, 2026 for a presentation of the video “Trapped”. This is an incredibly important annual event for the Intermediate students at Southview PS. We are proud of our collaboration with MADD Canada.
We are making our way towards our fundraising goal of $4500 for the Terry Fox Foundation and have reached $ 1890 on our donation website which does not include any of the cash and cheque donations we have received. The whole school participated in the Terry Fox Walk/Run on Thursday October 8th, 2026. Please consider making a contribution by using the link provided in the Terry Fox section below. We will be keeping the donation website open until Friday October 16th, 2026 in the hope of achieving our goal. Thank you for your generosity and for supporting our effort to find a cure for cancer! A very special thank you to members of the Napanee Raiders Hockey Team who attended Southview PS to speak to some of our classes yesterday and then came again today to walk/run with our students in support of the Terry Fox Fundraiser. Also a huge thank you and "shout out" to the students and Mme. St. Laurent who organized the fundraiser, the run itself and the opening assembly. Well done to all!
Our next School Advisory Council Meeting will take place on Wednesday October 21st, 2026 beginning at 5 p.m. Please consider coming out to this session, which will be held in the school library, to take part in discussions regarding important upcoming events in your child's school. The SAC committee is planning to host a Halloween Dance on the evening of Thursday October 22nd, 2026. Please stay tuned for further details to come!
The week of October 13-16, 2026 will be a short week for students within the Limestone District School Board. The school is closed on Monday as it is the Thanksgiving Day holiday! Enjoy! Students will return to school on Tuesday October 13, 2026. We hope that your plans for the long weekend go smoothly and that it involves time spent with close friends and family!
Have a wonderful rest of the week everyone, and a fantastic couple of weeks ahead!
We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving Long Weekend! Hoping you are able to spend time enjoying family and friends!
A BIG THANK YOU TO MR. HOUARD!
We would like to take a moment to give a very special THANK YOU to Mr. Houard, a generous member of our Southview community. Mr. Houard has donated thousands of dollars worth of woodworking equipment and supplies over the years, including drills, nails, sandpaper, and so much more, to help support our students and their learning. He has also generously financed our Math Award at graduation, helping us celebrate and recognize the hard work and achievements of our students.
These donations make a real difference! When your children reach Grades 7 and 8 at Southview, they will have the opportunity to benefit from the equipment and experiences made possible by Mr. Houard's generosity.
So, if you happen to see Mr. Houard out in our community, please take a moment to say THANK YOU! We are incredibly grateful for his generosity and his belief in our students.

Southview PS is Proud to Take Part in the Terry Fox Fundraiser
Southview Public School is proud to take part in the 2026 Terry Fox School Run!
Since 2013, Southview has participated in 13 runs and raised a total the is very close to $50 000. This is a proud history!
This year we have set a goal to raise $4500 prior to run day to support cancer research. Instead of using Pledge Sheets, we ask our students to collect from family and friends. We would also like to encourage families to use the online donation site specifically set up for Southview Public School. The site can be found at the following link:
Southview Public School
Alternatively, students can collect donations and bring cash or cheques to the main office. Please make cheques payable to the Terry Fox Foundation.
Thank you in advance for your support of Southview Public School and its efforts to support cancer research!
