Growing, Learning, and Achieving Together
Hello Lynx Families!
We hope that everyone has enjoyed a great week! Southview PS has been busy with lots of exciting events happening.
On October 14th, 2025, our Cross Country Team sent a huge contigent to Fort Henry to compete in the LESAA Regional Cross County Race. Due to the tremendous preparation provided by our coaches, the team performed exceptionally well. One of our Senior Grils placed first in her race as did one of our Bantam Boys. Our Senior Boys Team placed second overall and our Bantam Boys placed 3rd. Eighteen of our athletes qualifed for the District finals on October 22nd, 2025 where all of our athletes and coaches represented Southview PS with terrific enthusiasm and great sportsmanship despite the wet and windy weather. Well done to all athletes and coaches!
The whole school participated in the Terry Fox Walk/Run on Thursday October 9th, 2025. Our final tally for this inportant fundraiser was $4060.00. A huge thank you and "shout out" to the students and Mme. St. Laurent who organized the fundraiser, the run itself and the opening assembly. Well done to all!
Our second School Advisory Council Meeting took place on Thursday October 16th, 2025 at 6 p.m. The meeting was very well attended and a great deal of discussion occurred regarding the goals for this year. The SAC committee hosted an amazing Halloween "Monster Mash" Dance on the evening of Thursday October 23rd, 2025. The dance raised a total of $1539.50 and after expenses, a net profit of approximately $1000. The Grade 8 students provided outstanding leadership at this event and are to be congratulated for their efforts. Well done and a huge thank you to eveyone who participated. If you lost a number of gift cards at the dance, please call the school office to have them returned.
Next week, Southview will be holding a Black/Brown and Orange Spirit Day on October 31st, 2025 to acknowledge the Fall Season and Halloween. Please help your child show their spirit by helping them to choose black, orange and/or brown clothing to wear next Friday!
Please note the announcements below regarding the following:
- The Hot Lunch Schedule
- The Student Census taking place over the week of November 24-28 for our students in Grades 4-8
- The 2026-2029 Multi-Year Acessibility Plan Survey
Just a reminder that Southview PS is a scent free environment. Many of our students are using scented products after gym and at other times during the school day. Many of our staff and students are sensitive to heavily scented products and find it difficult when they are used in classrooms and in our hallways. Please help us to make sure that Southview continues to be an inclusive environment by providing your children with deodorants and sprays that are scent free. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
We wish everyone a terrific weekend and a wonderful week ahead!
John Ricci, Jen Cole and the Southview Learning Team!
