Growing, Learning, and Achieving Together
Hello Lynx Families!
We have reached the Thanksgiving Day long weekend which feels like a benchmark moment in the school year. The first six weeks of 2025-2026 are complete, and we have accomplihed so much. It certainly feels as if everyone needs a break to catch their breath before engaging in the next phase of Term One.
Our Intermediate Baseball Teams competed in an Interschool Tournament on Wednesday Octobr 8th and the results were impressive! The kids all had a great time. Many had played before, but also many took a risk and tried something new in a positive and supportive environment. One of the boy's teams won the tournament, and the Golden Bat trophy. The best part of the day was the team voting Connor Smith the MVP of the tournament, even though he doesn't play ball outside of school. You could not get the smile off his face, and he has found something new he wants to pursue. A big "shout out" to Adam M., Matt G. and Matt B. for coaching and to all of the athletes who particpated with enthusiasm, team spirit and amazing sportsmanship! Best of luck to our Cross Country Team and coaches who are representing Southview PS next week at the LESAA Race on October 14, 2025. Go Lynx!
On Thursday October 16, 2025, Southview PS will be distributing Indvidual Education Plans to many of our students' families for review and feedback. These are considered working documents that may be revised throughout October and sent back out to some families as finished documents. This will happen over the course of the next few weeks. We are looking for families to feedback on the plans developed for our students so that parent and guardian voices can be included! Please feel free to connect with your child's classroom teacher if you have any questions or suggstions regarding these important documents.
We are making our way towards our fundraising goal of $4500 for the Terry Fox Foundation and have reached $2505 on our donation website which does not include some of the cash and cheque donations we have received. The whole school participated in the Terry Fox Walk/Run on Thursday October 9th, 2025. We are leaving the donation site available for one more week (until Friday October 17th, 2025). Please consider making a contribution by using the link provided in the Terry Fox section below. Thank you for your generosity and for supporting our effort to find a cure for cancer! Also a huge thank you and "shout out" to the students and Mme. St. Laurent who organized the fundraiser, the run itself and the opening assembly. Well done to all!
Our next School Advisory Council Meeting will take place on Thursday October 16th, 2025 beginning at 6 p.m. Please consider coming out to this session, which will be held in the school library, to take part in discussions regarding important upcoming events in your child's school. The SAC committee is planning to host a Halloween Dance on the evening of Thursday October 23rd, 2025. Please stay tuned for further details to come!
The week of October 14-17, 2025 will be a short week for students within the Limestone District School Board. The school is closed on Monday as it is the Thanksgiving Day holiday! Enjoy! Students will return to school on Tuesday October 14, 2025. We hope that your plans for the long weekend go smoothly and that it involves time spent with close friends and family!
We wish everyone a terrific long weekend and a wonderful week ahead!
John Ricci, Jen Cole and the Southview Learning Team!

SOUTHVIEW PS Runs For Terry Fox
October 9th, 2025
Southview Public School was proud to take part in the 2025 Terry Fox School Run on Thursday October 9th, 2025!
Since 2013, Southview has participated in 12 runs and raised a total of $44, 227.95. This is a proud history!
This year we have set a goal to raise $4500 to support cancer research. Instead of using Pledge Sheets, we ask our students to collect from family and friends. We would also like to encourage families to use the online donation site specifically set up for Southview Public School. The site can be found at the following link:
Alternatively, students can collect donations and bring cash or cheques to the main office. Please make cheques payable to the Terry Fox Foundation.
So far we have collected $2505 on our donation website which does not include cash and cheque donations that have come into the school. Before we dtermine which classes have brought in the most funds (and which class will feature in our staff vs students dodgeball game) we are leaving the donation site ope for one more week (October 17th, 2025). Please consider making a donation to the Terry Fox Foundation on behalf of SOuthview Public School and help us to reach out goal!
Thank you in advance for your support of Southview Public School and its efforts to support cancer research!

Southview Swag
We have partnered with a Specialty Trophies for our school clothing this year. Specialty Trophies is a local Kingston company which provides school apparel to many of the schools in our district. One of the big advantages of this company is that they will provide free shipping to the school! That will be a great savings to our families!
