Positive Cases of COVID-19 Dec. 17

Image of confirmed COVID-19 case graphicUpdate: Dec. 19, 2021: KFL&A Public Health identified two additional positive cases of COVID-19 in students on Dec. 19. These cases were already isolating so no new cohorts were required to isolate. 

Additional positive cases: three students on Dec. 17: these cases were already
isolating; two students on Dec. 14 which resulted in a second class cohort being directed to isolate and declaration of an outbreak; one student on Dec. 13 which resulted in one class cohort and one child care cohort being directed to isolate. The school pivoted to remote learning for the duration of the week.

There are now eight cases at the school.

KFL&A Public Health works closely with schools to ensure that necessary steps are taken to prevent further spread of the virus both in the school and the community.

Families are encouraged to continue to monitor and screen students daily for symptoms of COVID-19 as most cases of COVID-19 are acquired in the home setting. Do not send students to school if they are sick or symptomatic. 

Please continue to follow all public health guidelines which include maintaining physical distance, wearing face coverings, and cleaning your hands frequently.

Cases in schools must be reported locally and provincially. We are sharing this information with you to ensure you have accurate information. No further information will be released to maintain privacy.
