Dear Parents/Guardians,
Track and Field season is upon us which means that all of our classes have been busy preparing for this event. We would like to take this opportunity to provide parents and guardians with some more information about how Track and Field will be organized this year.
As we are ensuring that we are making the best use of our facilities and time, classes have been using DPA (Daily Physical Activity) and gym periods to practice Track and Field events as part of our active participation curriculum. For the past few months teachers have been introducing students to the various events and are now recording and submitting the top four names of their students for each event. The Track and Field coaches are then taking these top four students from each class, and having them compete against the other students in their division during gym classes and recesses (Atom-grades 3/4, born 2003 or later, Bantam-grades 5/6, born 2001-2002, and Midget-grades 7/8, born 2000 or earlier). The top four students in each division, for each event, will then qualify for the Regional Meet that will be held at the Invista Centre
on June 4th. More information will follow from the school for the students that qualify for this meet.
